ACE TRAP - Bass Trap: Professional Low-Frequency Control

The Ace Trap is an elegant, high-performance acoustic absorber engineered to manage the most challenging low-frequency issues in your studio or listening environment.

Understanding Placement and Importance

Low-frequency sound waves build up the highest energy exactly in the corners of a room. This concentration of energy is the source of bass boominess and standing waves.

  • Optimal Placement: The Ace Trap is designed to be placed on a wall close to the corners of your room, where its effectiveness at absorbing low frequencies is maximized.

  • Achieving Best Results: While a single unit provides noticeable improvement, we strongly recommend placing bass traps on two or more walls of your room for comprehensive treatment. For holistic acoustic performance, combine the Ace Trap with our standard broadband absorption and diffusion features across the walls and ceiling.

To further optimize your space, please review our comprehensive Home Studio Guide for detailed acoustic strategies, or contact us directly for personalized consultation.

How the Technology Works

The Ace Trap achieves superior efficiency by combining innovative membrane technology with conventional porous absorption methods.

  1. Membrane Mechanism: The absorber features a heavy, yet flexible diaphragm suspended over an airtight cavity. When low-frequency sound energy (bass) strikes this membrane, it causes the diaphragm to vibrate like a spring, transforming sound energy into kinetic energy (heat).

  2. Dual Absorption: This membrane works in concert with an additional porous layer behind it, which air is pushed through, and a thin absorption layer in front. This sophisticated, patented solution ensures superb functionality across the entire deep and low bass spectrum (40 Hz to 80 Hz), while also performing very well in mid and high frequencies.

This dual-action mechanism provides exceptional control over room reverberation, delivering the highest absorption effectiveness you can find.

Quality, Craftsmanship, and Safety

We take pride in offering handcrafted, sustainable, and safe products.

  • Sustainable & Safe: We never use mineral or glass wool as a filling material. Instead, we use Envizol, a premium acoustic material made from recycled PET, ensuring your air remains free of micro-particles and irritants.

  • Handcrafted: Every Ace Trap is a handmade original utilizing our signature design.

How we DO it

FAQ

Why Should I Place Them in Corners?

Low-frequency sound waves build up the highest energy in the corners of any room. To effectively neutralize and absorb this energy, you must treat the corners first. The smaller and more cube-shaped your room is, the more low-frequency issues (known as room modes) it will produce. You can gain a better understanding of room modes by reading our home studio guide and tips & tricks section.

How Many Absorbers Do I Need?

Start by installing at least two, but preferably four units, in the corners of your room. This initial placement will certainly improve acoustics, but additional units may be necessary if low frequencies still sound muddy.

Remember, more isn't always better. Before ordering additional absorbers, we recommend you consult our room modes calculator and measure your room's frequency response. This data will help you pinpoint exactly how many absorbers you truly need. Feel free to contact us if you need help analyzing your results.

Why is Ace Trap More Expensive?

The Ace Trap utilizes innovative membrane technology, which is significantly more complex to engineer and produce than conventional porous absorbers. It features a heavy, yet thin and flexible membrane that allows us to achieve market-leading effectiveness across the entire deep and low bass frequency spectrum (up to 100 Hz). Put simply, the price reflects the higher production cost and the superior, professional performance the panel delivers.

Can I Use Woody Queen Wall Panels Instead?

Yes, you can. Woody Queen panels are quite effective at damping lower frequencies, though they will not be as powerful as the dedicated Ace Trap bass trap. If the Ace Trap is out of your budget due to its unique design, the Queen absorber can still provide good results. Just be sure to leave a substantial air gap behind the Woody Queen on the wall, as low-frequency sound waves are very long and require distance to be properly absorbed.

Is This Considered a Bass Trap?

Absorbers designed to manage low-frequency energy are commonly referred to as bass traps. While technically speaking, sound energy cannot be "trapped," the term is widely understood. We don't mind if you call the Ace Trap a bass trap; what matters to us is that it works—and works exceptionally well.
