Cozy Home Studio - Martin

What started as a simple panel request turned into a full-blown acoustic makeover

From a simple idea to a full studio setup

When Martin first reached out to us, he had a pretty simple request—he wanted to use Ekustik® Japan Ink absorption panels in his home studio. But as we got talking, the project quickly turned into something much bigger (and more exciting!). In the end, Martin helped design a complete acoustic treatment solution that fits his space perfectly.

We worked together to come up with a full acoustic plan, including wall panels, bass traps, and even some custom light absorbers. Here’s what we did:

Walls

To handle the room’s reverb and control reflections, we installed Woody Queen Performance panels at the key spots on the walls—especially the first reflection points. This helps create a really solid reflection-free zone (RFZ) at the listening position, which means better clarity and sound focus where it matters most.

Bass Traps

Since we couldn’t go with traditional corner-mounted bass traps, we suggested freestanding rectangular ones instead. These sit nicely in the front corners on the floor and are made with the same tech as our Ekustik® Woody Wavy panels. They’re super effective in the low-end range—right around 60–80 Hz, which really tightens up the bass.

Desk Reflections

To deal with reflections coming off the desk, we designed some lightweight hexagon-shaped absorbers, each 50 mm thick. These help reduce the sound bouncing between the speakers and the listening position—without taking up too much space or messing with the studio’s vibe.
