FAQ: Our Acoustic Material

This section details the acoustic material we use in our panels and provides essential guidance for effective acoustic treatment.

What acoustic material do you use in Ekustik® panels?

We utilize Envizol as the core acoustic material in our panels. This material is made from recycled PET (plastic), making it both highly effective for sound absorption and an eco-friendly choice.

Can I build my own absorbers that work as well as Ekustik panels?

Sure you can! The key to achieving professional effectiveness is using high-quality internal materials. Just make sure to use Envizol acoustic material, the same as we do.

If you plan to cover the front of your homemade absorber with fabric, ensure you use an acoustically transparent fabric so that it doesn't reflect the sound waves and negate the absorber's function.

How many absorbers do I need in my studio or at home?

The amount of treatment needed depends on the function of the room:

  • Music Studio / Rehearsal Room: Requires absorbing and diffusing panels on more than 50 % of the wall area, with absorbers playing the major part.

  • Home Listening Room / Home Theatre: Should occupy at least 20 % of the wall area.

  • Commercial Spaces (Offices, Restaurants): Typically require a tailor-made solution due to unique architectural features and noise sources.

Where is the best place to install absorbing panels?

The very first and most critical step is to cover the first reflection points on the walls between the source of sound (your speakers) and the listening position.

Covering these points eliminates early reflections. If you don't do this, sound waves will bounce off the walls and interfere with the direct waves from the speakers, resulting in audio that’s not clear and balanced. Check out our acoustic guide to find out more about identifying these crucial locations.
