FAQ: Sound absorption

What makes your acoustic absorbers unique?

Our absorbers are handcrafted to achieve the highest possible effectiveness and aesthetic quality. They are designed to significantly reduce unwanted reflections of sound waves off the walls of your room. This translates directly into a reduction of airborne noise and a significant improvement of sound quality and clarity.

In addition to being handmade, every single acoustic absorber that leaves our workshop contains PET felt from recycled plastic, a material that’s both exceptionally effective and eco-friendly.

Can any room be a good-sounding room?

Absolutely. No matter its size or shape, every room can be treated in a way that achieves acoustic comfort and perfect sound. Placing acoustic absorbers on the walls is the crucial first step because they eliminate early reflections. As a result, you can hear the direct sound more clearly and accurately.

Why should I choose your absorbers over foam tiles?

Sadly, foam tiles are found in virtually all music studios and rehearsal rooms today. However, we strongly recommend against them:

  • Poor Performance: Foam tiles generally do not work well below 1 kHz, making them ineffective for taming common low-mid frequency issues.

  • Aesthetic: They often look visually unappealing, making rooms appear unprofessional and tasteless.

We have been to countless studios and are confident in saying that wherever there are foam tiles on the walls, acoustics is often not taken seriously. Our handcrafted absorbers provide superior performance and a professional aesthetic.

Kolik absorbérů potřebuji ve studiu nebo doma?

The amount of treatment needed depends on the room's function:

  • Music Studio / Rehearsal Room: Requires absorbing and diffusing panels on more than 50 % of its wall area, with absorbers playing the major part.

  • Home Listening Room / Home Theatre: Should occupy at least 20 % of the wall area.

  • Commercial Spaces (Offices, Restaurants): Typically require a custom solution due to their unique geometry and noise sources.

Where is the best place to install absorbing panels?

The very first and most important thing to do is to cover the first reflection points on the walls between the sound source (your speakers) and the listening position.

This eliminates early reflections. If you don't do this, sound waves will bounce off the walls and interfere with the direct waves from the speakers, resulting in sound that’s not clear and balanced. Check out our blog to find out more about identifying these critical spots.

Jak zjistím, zda můj prostor potřebuje akustickou úpravu?

Stačí si jednou poslechnout hudbu v akusticky upravené místnosti a už nikdy nebudete chtít nic jiného. Čistota zvuku a absence zabarvení vás určitě ohromí.

However, acoustic treatment offers benefits even if you hardly ever listen to music:

  • Improved Well-being: Acoustic panels improve the soundscape and facilitate communication in residential as well as commercial spaces.

  • Noise Reduction: They absorb unwanted echoes and noise (people talking, phones ringing, equipment humming, chairs scraping).

  • Increased Productivity: This reduction in noise translates into a reduction of stress, improvement of productivity, and increased well-being and ability to learn.

In short, proper acoustic treatment will make your life better in ways you never even imagined by controlling the auditory environment.
